![]() ![]() The dark and eerie “Can’t Be You” follows that up. ![]() Bans and West deliver those in calming, floaty, and reserved tones that ensure that they don’t overexert their voices. That showcases a light-hearted, carefree melody and lyrics about dropping out of school, counting up money, and having sex with other men’s girlfriends over wavy, tropical production. However, that is quickly remedied with the following stretch of four high-quality tracks, starting with “No L’s”, featuring Yung Bans. West and Genesis boringly croon and sing in a drawn out way that fails to draw any attention to their performances. The Tommy Genesis-assisted opener “2pennies” doesn’t give a great first impression for the EP with its overly-minimalistic and empty production, consisting solely of a bouncy 808, muted snare, and some other percussive sounds. ![]() ![]() Of course, though, as with most projects of this type, it’s not without its faults. Like Tyla Yaweh did on Heart Full Of Rage about a month ago, Lil West positions himself a step ahead most of the current autocrooners on Vex Part 1. ![]()
